I first met Mr. David (Dave) Shapiro back in 2010 when I started coming to and eventually joining the International Association of Electrical Inspectors, IAEI. The name of the organization has since changed and our chapter has unfortunately dismantled but Dave and I have stayed in contact and have developed not only a professional relationship but a personal one as well. I was brought into this unique and complicated industry at the age of 13, being taught by my father. This afforded me the opportunity to have seen, installed and even worked on very old and some obsolete systems. My father has since passed on, and after meeting Dave and realizing he has been in the field of electricity for some time, I found this was a person I could rely on. This was someone who has also worked on and seen the same outdated systems. This afforded us the opportunity to put our heads together to talk about and even solve problems with these ancient systems.

Dave and I both have stayed current on the rapid changes affecting the electrical industry. Because of his dedication and commitment, Dave is someone I can count on, and I value his knowledge when seeking information. He too calls on me from time to time as we both respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

I have also witnessed Dave's strong ethical values. You will never find him cutting corners or compromising safety just to get the job done. He will make sure whatever project he is committed to meets the latest and most stringent code requirements.

Because of Dave’s extensive electrical knowledge he has held code-related classes, and I had the opportunity to attend a few of them. His manner of teaching is one of ease and makes you feel relaxed. He does not instruct his classes in a manner that causes his students to lose interest but rather engages them to the point it will elicit an array of questions. He makes sure to answer all questions thoroughly and makes sure you have a complete understanding before moving on.

Dave is someone I trust and feel comfortable asking questions when needed.
